The Germs and the Extremes at Hong Kong Cafe july 17

'...The Germs seige the stage, and it's an instant party, any sense of order or meaning is gone. The crowd, now up and active, seems to be fighting more than dancing (but what do I know?). General confusion prevails, and Darby plays host; "Whaddaya wanna hear? Do You know any songs? pretend you're at a party! gimme some beer!" calming the crowd and exciting them at the same time. Beautiful Lorna smiles cooly (I'm in love). Pat, relaxed and in good form, is on the floor. An intersting version of "Shutdown" features a synthesizer. Darby finds the ceiling too low to really let go, but he keeps everyone happy, "Everyone onstage!" a few more songs, or fragments of songs, then Rik L.Rik is on the stage. A new drummer sits down, and Lorna hands over her bass. Seems like the set is coming to an end. Stumbling down the stairs, I'm relived to know that there's still some fun in L.A. on a Tuesday night.'
