What God Should I Serve?

 

All early civilizations believed in many gods (polytheism) such as Mesopotamia (5000 BC), Egypt (3100 BC), and India /Hinduism (2500 BC).

 

Genesis 12:2-3

God chose His people through Abraham

 

Genesis 35:1-5

Jacob called to worship one God (1900 BC).

Egypt believed in 28 major gods. The Jews spent 430 years in Egypt and was told to purge out all foreign gods (1446 BC).

 

Deut 4:15-24

Considering all the nations around them, what was unique about the Judeo-Christian roots believing in one God (monotheism).

 

Deut 6:4-5

The Persians and Greeks (330-166BC) believed in many gods.

 

Mark 12:28-34

Jesus calls all to worship the one true God (30AD).

In the days of Jesus and the apostle Paul, the Romans believed in many gods (Acts 17:22-31).

Jesus states that the only way to enter the Kingdom of God (salvation) is by believing in the one true God.

Out of all the major religions; Islam, Judaism and Christianity who believe in just one God, all of them believe in the Torah (first five books in the Old Testament). What truly separates these faiths is Jesus being the Son of God (The Messiah) and that He was raised from the dead.

Islam and Judaism believe that Jesus was a prophet. The question must be asked; do prophets of God lie?

The “prophet” Jesus states that “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except through me” (John 14:6).
