Crew #1, Bob Sowden and Karen Knockel.
It would have been tough to have a better lead off crew. Understood
the situation with early shake down problems. Meanwhile, I learned many
sailing lessons. Here we ponder our position. Just where
are we? This crew got me from the factory to Block Island with adventures in Monhegan Island, Rockland and points south. |
|
Crew # 1.5. Donna Ross joined
crew #1 in route. The crew relaxs here at the Yellow Kitten saloon
in Block Island. Thanks for the tip on the Yellow Kitten Rick. |
|
John Amadon joins up in Block Island.
After a serious brush failure, the knot miester John fixes up the
brush. Note the cord wrapped around the handle. Is that class or what.
Note, it started to come apart in Georgia. |
|
Sue joined up at Block Island too. Here
she is checking out the New York sky line as we approach the Throgs Neck
bridge. |
|
Jeff McGinn took over in Annapolis.
Weather on Chesepeake Bay was "interesting". We had 20 to 25 kts
every day. Fortunately, Jeff is a surfer. Once we got the wind at
our back, Jeff got Incommunigato surfing. With Jeff on board, the anchoring scenario changed. His view, "Yea, it's only three feet deep in there. But hey, why did you buy a cat?" |

Mark met me in the Atalanta airport
as I was on the way back from Brian's wedding. We headed out down
the ICW from Norfolk. Between narrow channels in the ICW and wind
that was always from the desired course, I think Mark only got to sail for
about 20 minutes. That was when we got close to a storm and caught
some local breeze from the storm.
Typical Wind DirectionHere Mark is looking at what we believed to be a fire. Well it was a fire of sorts. This turned out to be a Navy firing exercise. Lesson learned, pay attention when the chart says stay out of this area, it's a firing range. |
|
Ericka joined Mark and I in Beurfort NC.
Ericka wanted to go out into the Ocean so we did that at Cape Fear. Bad Move. The weather was not equal to the forcast and we had plenty of weather. Opposite in calmer water leaving Chareston before the crack of dawn. |
|
Alix and Charitty joined Ericka and I
in Charleston SC. Hey Ericka, are you sure those soles are non-marking? |
|
Chuck Baird rescued me in Savanagh and helped
bring the boat as far as St. Augustine. This included encounters with
storms and a submarine that chased us out of the channel. |
|
Last crew, Kathy Turner and Nancy Cox. They
joined up in St. Augustine and continued to the Waterline Marina in sunny
Melbourne Florida. Kathy and Nancy liked the crew shirts. But ladies, you should wear something in addition to the shirts. |
