| Notes for Charity Yenowine |
Charity "Ma" Walts was well liked by all. She told stories of hiding from Morgan's raiders as a young teenager by hiding people and horses in a sinkhole on the George W Walts farm, adjacent to the old Yenowine (Avery) farm near south edge of Georgetown.
She raised her grand daughter, Thelma "Dolly" Walts, from a baby. Lived in one of the nicest homes in Georgetown, one block west of the store they ran. Rella and Alice Faye also lived with her during the Asian Flu outbreak of Nov 1918, when Rada was born. (7)
She made shirts for the army by the dozens, and the kids used the empty spools for toys. |
