| Notes for Charles Delbert Walts |
According to Aunt Alice Fay (7), he was born in a log house on the Prentice Seacat farm. (Not sure where that is.)
Started housekeeping in a small log house 300 ft south of the Shelby Walts house south of Georgetown. Shelby's kids played in that old log house before it was torn down after they built the present Shelby Walts house, and added the upstairs after Harlan was born.
Bought 80 acres from Geo & Evaline Walts for $1,300 on April 27, 1874. Bought additional 27.5 acres for $300 from Geo Miller on June 7, 1886. Bought 25 acres for $100.00 from his brother Willard Walts on May 23, 1902. This makes up the total of 132.5 acres which Shelby Walts bought in April, 1927.
Pa Walts ran the general store in Georgetown (the old 'Doc Shake' store at the foot of the hill below old Georgetown school.) They owned & lived in the big house across the street from the store - the old Tom Kiethly house. Pa died without a word while shaving one morning. Possibly a heart atteck?
