Grew up on farm south of Georgetown. Stories up getting up at 2 a.m. to milk the cows, bottle the milk, then deliver it in New Albany, all before going to school. All this well before age 16, and during the great depression of the mid 1930's. Played basketball at Georgetown High School, grad 24 Apr, 1939. One semester at Indiana State in Terre Haute.
Purchased home in Georgetown 1943. Ran service station and garage on east end of Georgetown for many years. Also Laundromat. Active in church and civic affairs and was instrumental in building the Georgetown Community Park in the 1950's and the new Methodist Church after the old one burned down around 1960.
Remodeled house on old Dr Baker's farm and moved there in about 1970. Spent winters fishing in Fla near Lake Placid until later years.
Heart by-pass in 1968 and brain tumor surgery in 72. |
