Let's Swap - Teacher's Notes Use this song to teach colours, or alternatively clothes (Beware, "a" and "it's" change to "some" and "they're" for jeans, shoes etc.,) or for older kids adjectives like hat-floppy, lacy, frilly, trendy etc. This song is divided into two groups as a conversation, with everyone singing the refrain. I had my graduating students and remaining students sing this at graduation ceremony and then swap red, green and blue origami hats and bags filled with goodbye messages - very theatrical, the parents love it! Make a set of cards with different coloured hats (and/or bags or whatever) with four of a kind respectively, mix them and give each student for mixed cards. the aim of the game is to get three matching cards by walking round and swapping as much as possible saying the card you're trying to get rid of. For instance if I have two pink hats, one orange and one purple I swap the orange or purple saying "I have an orange hat, let's swap!" Then, if I'm lucky I may get a pink hat, if not I carry on swapping till I do. The first person to get three of a kind is the winner. |
