Welcome To One Green Leaf! |
|
| The songs in this Website were written in 1996 by Renata Suzuki, a teacher and environmental campaigner living and working in Japan. Originally published as a short book, the songs aim to combine the teaching of English with the teaching of environmental awareness to an age group up to 11 years old. Click HERE for the original introduction. Although the original concept was to use the songs in the context of teaching English as a second language, there is no reason why they cannot be used in a native English speaking classroom. Click here to see how the songs have been used. Renata and others have used the material on this site successfully for many years and are happy now to make it available to all!

All the songs are presented with the original music and teacher's notes. Please feel free to play around with the melodies. If your class prefers Hip-Hop to Jazz (probably!) then feel free to turn them into Hip-Hop songs. In fact, Renata would be disappointed if you didn't create something unique from these starting points! You are free to use all the material on this site. All we ask is that you send an e-mail to let us know where you are! We would also be delighted to receive MP3s of your class' versions of the songs, which we will add to the site. The original book was designed as a colouring book that would stay with the kids for life and was printed by Chris Stone for Kinoko Printing. Artwork is by Miho Akasaka-Stone. Words and Music are by Renata Suzuki. Web design by Dave Greenhalgh for YellowDragon. |
