The "Spotlight Songs" of 1957 include two "rock-a-billy" hits, Buddy Holly's #1 "That'll Be The Day," and Buddy Knox's "Party Doll." The Diamonds' "Little Darlin'" is a classic "doo-wop" sound. "Day-O" / "The Banana Boat Song" is a unique recording in that it was done in two different versions, both of which were successful. The Tarriars were the first to hit the charts with their version which was quickly followe by Harry Belafonte's release from his popular calypso album.
