The links below will take you some pictures of various work in progress. The above photo dates from the earlier incarnation of my forge when our dress code wasn't so well established. Now I forge exclusively in sequined ball gowns. The series "casting the punch dagger", I regret is missing part of its sequence. So, just imagine that between the first and second photos, I placed the bottom half of the mold (aka 'flask') on the molding board, put the pattern in the middle, dusted it with parting dust and packed it with sand. After the mold is turned over and the board removed the sand is cut down to the parting line on the pattern. I've included a link to the Appalacian Power Hammer site because they have a pic of my hammer and it provides some construction details. The third series illustrates an altercation between a Robbins punch dagger and a '56 Dodge panel truck (AKA Elmer Butts).. Feel free to write with comments and or questions. |
