Thanks to our friends

Anyone who has been affiliated with an arts organization knows that you don't support the organization with ticket sales. In our case - not atypical - ticket sales account for only about half of the actual costs of putting on a concert season. Well, that's monetary costs. Since we have no paid staff - all the grunt work is done by volunteers - the true 'paid cost' must be well less than half. You - the concert goers - are the beneficiaries of many not-immediately-obvious contributions. Here, we would like to say thanks to those who make this concert season possible.

We might mention the members of the board (OK, I'm one of them). These people actually pay for the privilege of doing most of the work. You may call us mad if you wish. Herewith the list:

Not on the board, but nevertheless indispensible, are Dan Cudney (chief ramrod and principal arranger for the TCGS Guitar Orchestra, our primary outreach organization), and ... give me some time to remember additional deserving notables. Right up front let me mention the spouses of all of the above. It goes without saying that our contributions are enabled by their forebearance.

And then there are those who actually supply the funds without which the concert series would be impossible. We give special thanks to the Business Consortium for Arts Support (please make arrangements to see a concert brochure for details), the Norfolk Commission on the Arts and Humanities, The Williamsburg/ James City County Arts Commission, the Virginia Beach Arts and Humanities Commission, the Hampton Arts Commission and the Virginia Commission for the Arts. We thank also the Tazewell Hotel for providing accommodations for our visiting artists. We must also mention the concert-goers, who have - to the extent of their ability - opted to put 'a little on top'. We are grateful.
