We currently do not have any active repertory.
Artistic Director David Wes Sadowsky has been choreographing in NYC for years. His belief is that choreographers should rely on their natural instinct and first look responses to create movement on a faster time frame. In NYC speed is not just an artistic benefit, its a monetary one as well. Salaries and rehearsal space, which is expensive and sparse, all add up when the creation process is expanded. During the class we will focus on creating small abstract "cores" that can then be expanded into a full dance creation.
Mr. Sadowsky's modern technique class focuses on the importance of momentum. Allowing yourself to loosen up and not fight where it wants to go leads to less injuries and a more dynamic performance.
Mr. Sadowsky's modern technique class focuses on the importance of momentum. Allowing yourself to loosen up and not fight where it wants to go leads to less injuries and a more dynamic performance. Mr. Sadowsky has immense knowledge of the NYC dance scene through running his dance company David Wes Dance, working for the Williamsburg Arts Nexus and working for the arts support organization The Field. During this lecture and question answer session David will discuss the hardships of creating art in New York, and what success truly means.
