Who We Are

David Wes Dance was started in 2001 where we performed to receptive audiences at The Broome Corner Choreographic Showcase and WaxWorks. Soon the work was being selected for showcases such as Weekends at the Construction Company and the DanceNow/NYC festival.

Throughout this process David Wes Dance found its artistic voice, a minimalist style that investigates and manipulates movement to create interesting and thought provoking art.

For the 2004-2005 season the company was recast and all new work was started. Our first fundraiser was held in September 2004 at the Williamsburg Art Nexus, we gave a lecture and demonstration to high school students at the Dancewave Summer Festival, we were selected to perform for Target:Audience, as festival promoting free media, the Qville fundraiser at the Flux Factor, and for the second ear in a row to present at the DanceNow/NYC Festival. The highlight of the season was a self produced show at STEPS on Broadway.

For 2006-2007 the cast was again recast and a focus was placed on touring nationally. We had self produced shows in Boston and Washington DC. We were warmly greeted by the press during these trips, being called "Dance Pick of the Week" by the Boston Globe and "Must See Dance" by the Boston Metro.

Since 2007 the company has been on a performing hiatus. We are still currently active teaching, lecturing and producing dance for the web.
