The Patriot Act

My first act, after being sworn in as President of the United States of America, would be to order the arrest of the current President, and much of his current and previous staff, on charges of Treason. My second act would be to ask Congress to nullify the laws that make such an arbitrary act legal. These laws are the basis for but one of the several charges of treason leveled against them.

Church & State

When a member of a protected group bites the hand that protects it, perhaps it is time to remove those protections. When a Church officially advocates that its members vote in a particular way, it is they who violate the separation of Church and State.

Income Equity

The core of "Free Market Economics" is "Take All You Can Get". While this is generally a reasonably fair and equitable system, it is sometimes neither. When those at the top grab an inordinant share while minimizing the amount given to those at the bottom, value be damned, it is time we legislate protections for those on the bottom. Earnings ought to accrue to those who are productive.

Illegal Aliens

We have a problem with Illegal Aliens in this country. Working Americans want to be protected from them, Employers want to take advantage of them, Taxpayers object to paying for their free ride. And then there's the ever-present FEAR, fear of the different amongst us. We can't solve the FEAR, but we can certainly solve the lack of documentation, the below-scale pay and the failure to pay their share of taxes.

The Christian Vote

Mr Huckabee and Mr Romney have made religious claims in their effort to claim the votes of the Religious Right. I say neither is a Good Follower of Christ, that instead they would be today's Pharisees, if we still had such a thing. Christ was about upsetting the Status Quo, not about strictly enforcing it. He was about freeing mankind, not about restricting them - and, in particular, the women among them. Vote as a True Christian ... Evict the Pharisees from our Temple!
