LITERACY (Look at Timetable and Objective page to see more specific literacy plan) Initially the children will be asked to come up with basic story plans linked to stories from other cultures. These stories will then be written and then re-drafted. After this process the children will be organised into media groups and will vote on their favourite story. The next stage will be story boarding this tale in preparation for animation.
Once the storyboards are completed the group will have to script all of the dialogue. Speaking and Listening Skills will be developed as the children will also be putting voices to the characters.
Detailed character profiles will be built up for each character.
The children will write recounts of their visit to SPARK. They will also write evaluations throughout the project.
ART Art, linking with ICT Graphic Modelling, the children will design and make sets and props for the animation project. 1) identify and comment on the content, ideas and ways that stories are communicated visually 2) draw what they imagine when they read the story. 3) compare their work with the work of a book illustrator. 4) make decisions about how to work individually or in a group and complete a piece of art work 5) make experimental pieces to show the effects of different ideas and Techniques 6) talk about their finished work and how and why it was made. 7) identify the differences between their work and the work of others
DESIGN TECHNOLOGY Learning Objectives DT Pupils should be taught to… 1b) develop ideas and explain them clearly, putting together a list of what they want their design to achieve. 2a) select appropriate tools and techniques for making their product. 2b) suggest alternative ways of making their product, if first attempts fail. 3a) reflect on the progress of their work as they design and make, identifying ways they could improve their products.
Model Making: Using Wire, clay and modelling material, the children will design and make models to be animated.
ICT Graphic Modelling: Microsoft Paint will be used to build up backgrounds and sets for the animation itself. Storyboards can also be produced using a graphics package. The objectives covered will be... 1) to move, rotate and re-size graphic elements. 2) to use geometric tools to create objects which can be manipulated using an object-based graphics package. 3) to use an object-based graphics package to produce and explore a graphical model
Using ‘I Can Animate’ Apple Software. The children will learn how to operate DV Cameras. They will learn how to import Digital Video onto an ‘I-Book’ and then how to animate still images using the animation software.
MUSIC QCA Unit 19 Songwriter. The children will learn about song writing and the link between melody and lyrics. Finally the children will write a song to accompany their animation. Learning Objectives: To learn… 1) What is meant by the term ‘lyrics’ and how they can reflect the time and place in which they were written. 2) that lyrics have social and cultural meaning 3) how melody reflects the lyrics 4) how musical structures are used in song 5) how lyrics can be generated and organised 6) about writing songs.
