2008 NEW WAY MEDIA FESTIVAL

SALLY HINDMAN AND DOUG ADAMS HONORED AT NEW WAY MEDIA FESTIVAL

Signs of a new day appeared at the New Way Media Festival 2008, December 6th at the Bade Museum, Pacific School of Religion, as recently elected leaders and others honored Doug Adams In Memoriam and Sally Hindman in futurity. David Randolph, host, introduced Wilson Yates as the new president of the CARE board of directors and Carin Jacobs as the new Director of the Center for the Arts, Religion and Education (CARE). Emerging artists and religious leaders were featured in the program.

Past CARE President Joan Carter opened the program and PSR President William McKinney welcomed the crowd that filled the Bade Museum. Founding president of CARE Tim Nuveen led the applause as David Theroux presented the C.S. Lewis Communicator of the Year Award to founder and long time Director of CARE Doug Adams In Memoriam. Sally Hindman was honored with the Caring Communications Award recognizing her leadership of Youth Spirit Artworks with homeless youth. Ginturn Tran of Olivet University, San Francisco displayed cutting edge technology in the service of art and religion. David Madgalene and Judy Irwin presented their original performance of “God Said Dance.” This theme recurred later as Carla Di Sola and Nancy Hall along with David, Judy and Dr. Randolph led the group in dance.

The Festival was hailed as a moving tribute to Doug Adams and a moving forward in mission for CARE which is an affiliate of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley
Plans for this Festival 2009 are underway along with a continuing program of events.
