Illegal Immigration Nightmare
28-Mar-07 02:36 PM

Click on this link to view a truly horrifying situation of just how far gone the illegal immigration problem is getting in this country. This is disturbing, and one must ultimately realize that if this could happen to this guy, then it could happen to you and me as well. I can only assume you will be hearing more on this very soon, and most likely will receive maximum attention from Bill O'Reilly and Fox News. This is tragic.

Getting Even

Nobody likes a Telemarketer. They invade your privacy and your home with their unsolicited, unwanted, and obnoxious interruptions into your family dinner or relaxation time in front of the TV or the computer. They rarely give you more than an opportunity to say "hello" before they launch into their long winded pitch of what they are trying to sell you, and often will not allow you to interrupt until they have finished reading from their sales script sheet.
We have done all we know to do to stop these unwanted intrusions into our life from paying for caller ID on our phone system to registering with various governmental agencies making it a crime for them to call your residence. Yet, somehow, some of them still get through. The best line of defense has always been just to hang up the phone if one slips through, but I think one guy has the right idea. I'm not sure I am clever enough to pull this off on my own, but I'm certain if we could all learn to pull this tactic off, telemarketing would soon vanish forever. So, here's an example on how to terrorize a telemarketer. Do yourself a favor and click the link; make sure your speakers are turned on.
Captain America Dead
10-Mar-07 09:54 AM

Brought into existence in 1941 to do battle with Adolf Hitler, the Marvel hero has officially been killed off. Gunned down on the steps of a court house where he was to appear to answer charges brought against him for his involvment in the underground movement that was resisting the "Superhuman Registration Act", a law which required all super heros to register their true identity with the federal government. Captain America was without his shield and sporting dress slacks and his spandex flag shirt when he took a bullet to the chest on the steps of the court house. All the allegories are there to current events and current laws and there is no mistaking their meaning. Captain America has always been, well, somewhat politicized through out his entire existence and it appears he holds true to character not only when America is doing well, but when she is struggling as well. He was a character who possessed no real super powers - he was just an honest, good hearted person who obviously was addicted to steroids, but who wanted to do what was right, and fought injustices everywhere. True, he is only a fictional character, and this isn't the first time he's been "removed" from the scene. Apparantley he was buried inside a glacier for quite some time before he was revivied back in the 1960's only to find his beloved America in the grips of the cultural wars with those nasty hippies and flower children smoking pot and proclaiming free love. I've no doubt that he will be back again some day, but probably not until America has found her way out of the current darkness in which she is currently stumbling. Let's all hope so. We need the Captain now to help her find her way.
Double Speak

(Cartoon by: Adam Zyglis with The Buffalo News, Buffalo, NY)
This cartoon strikes at a significant fact that no one else seems to be talking about. How is it that when the newly elected Democratic Congress calls for a plan to bring home the troops and put an end to the senseless violence and evaporation of this country's money supply that the current administration cries and warns the world that we would be sending a message of "defeatism" to the world and encouraging terrorists everywhere to come here and attack us? Yet, when the very same proposal is put forth by this country's biggest ally in the Iraq war, Great Birtian, then all of a sudden the current administration spins it as a positive sign of victory! How can it be both victory and defeat based on who is delivering the message? Will someone who can understand the enigmatic thought processes of our current administration even care to explain this to the rest of us?
On a related side note, I read today that NASA is pulling the plug on it's project to track killer asteroids that are larger than 460 feet in diameter and pose a significant threat to striking earth. Back in 2005 the Congress tasked NASA with setting up a program to track these asteroids and to propose a plan on how to deflect any asteroid that may be deemed to be on a crash course with our planet. Unfortunately, NASA has had to "punt" this responsibility for lack of funds. The cost to implement and track such a system is estimated at a whopping $1 billion to be complete by 2020. Now let's see; 2020 by my calculations is about 13 years from now. $1 billion divided by 13 comes out to around $71 million per year. The cost of the Iraq war is currently running at $2 billion per week with a projected cost of over $1 trillion by the time we leave. Does anyone care to explain to the rest of us the logic in this type of fiscal misappropriation of funds? These are exactly the types of double standards that we see justified daily by the current administration and it is driving me crazy. Am I missing something here? Am I comparing apples to oranges? If I am - then I vote for the apples.
