Flame of Reality, "Intensity Music" played by Mortal Engine

Flame of Reality is one of my first rhythmically based compositions . Technically , it's in 5/4 time phrased as 4/4 , two long triplets and two short dupletes. It is also based on a traditional 12 bar blues in the melody sections. The blues has been altered to favor the Major rather than minor qualities , and also to modulate a Major interval rather than the more natural 4th.

The Performers are Bernie Addington on Upright Bass, Scott Bishop on Drums and percusion, and Myself, Davidian Chorley on Flute.

This Group , Mortal Engine, performed very frequently and drew a large and enthusiastic following to each show (consistently 35 to 90+). We were proud to have such appreciation for a group playing original Jazz and free improvisation.
