Quaffing V

I was in for 10 hours and had 40 pints - beating my previous record by 20 minutes.

Glassy Junction

OK, so I'm slightly cheating again as the Glassy Junction is actually in Ealing borough. It's a sort of Indian equivalent of those faux Irish and Australian bars that continue to pop up everywhere. There are however two important differences:
a) The Glassy Junction is genuine, and
b) It's good!
It's a big barn of a place, next to Southall BR station, and, like the African Queen, is a pub that also does excellent Indian food. Add Indian lagers on draught, the fact that you can also for them using rupees, and Z tv on a big screen, and you have a place well worth braving the 120 for!
They have 'Exotic Dancers' on Sundays and Thursdays if you're into that sort of thing. You know who you are...

The Stone Roses

It's quite easy to get to this place from Hounslow - take the tube to Heathrow, hop on the Gatwick Express and then take any plane to Kos. The Stone Roses Bar is in the centre of Kardamena town, just at the end of Bar Street, and one of the better places in town for a few evening drinks. Obviously the music's the main draw - if you like 90s 'Britpop' (sorry, hate that word!) and more modern indie stuff (Xfm's playlist, in essence) you'll feel perfectly at home here. An extremely affable English brother and sister serve drinks (Dano is the spitting image of that twat out of Supergrass...) and if the enthusiastic Greek DJ asks you who the best band in the world is, keep him happy and just say 'The Smiths'. No drawbacks to this place apart from the obligatory rank bogs.

The London Apprentice:

Fantastic boozer on the river in 'Old' Isleworth. Not many pubs round here are named in honour of a slightly camp young man in a green tunic with his hands on his hips. Nice big terrace overlooking the river outside, but this is the sort of pub that I think is at its best on a crisp, cold winter's day - especially after a long walk. The traditional interior - lots of wood and leather chairs - mean it's the perfect place to waste an afternoon or evening.
