SIUC News Flash!!!!!
"It
is with deep personal regret, but also with a deeper sense of
obligation to the students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of
Southern Illinois University Carbondale that, in fulfilling the full
measure of the responsibilities of this office, I have placed
Carbondale Mayor Brad Cole on administrative leave.”

“Brad’s mission was to increase sales tax and turn over $20M to SIU for its new football stadium. As you know, we need the $20M and we need it now. It hasn't worked out. I regret it. It's the last thing I wanted to happen. We couldn't have known things eight to nine months ago as we know them today. But Brad just hasn’t coughed up the loot fast enough.

Poshard said Brad underwent a thorough orientation with much time spent on reviewing the goals and objectives of "Southern at 150: Building Football Stadiums Through Commitment" that was unveiled in spring 2003 seeking to improve every aspect of athletics at SIU.
