GORDON DONALD LAFLEUR

 

 

 

 

NORTH HATFIELD _ Gordon D. LaFleur, 67, of 129 Depot Road, died Nov. 17 at home.

Born Dec. 15, 1936, in Northampton, he was the son of Eva B. (Mongeon) LaFleur of Northampton and the late Donald T. LaFleur.

He attended school in Northampton, including Sacred Heart Elementary School, and was a 1955 graduate of Northampton High School.

He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves veteran.

He received an associate's degree in business management in 1980 from Greenfield Community College and a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1985 from North Adams State College. He received a certificate in transportation management in 1987 from the College of Advanced Traffic Management in Chicago, through Holyoke Community College.

Mr. LaFleur was one of the original employees at Chartpak Co. in Leeds, retiring as the traffic manager in 1991. After his retirement, he worked until 1994 as the traffic manager at Renovators Supply in Millers Falls.

Mr. LaFleur was a familiar sight on King and Main streets in Northampton, where he took his morning and noontime strolls, always wearing a fedora hat.

He was a member of American Legion Post 344 in Hatfield, and was a former of member of the Northampton Elks. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, Nancy (LaFreniere) LaFleur; a son, Daryl G. LaFleur, of Northampton; three daughters, Deirdre I. Costigan, of Florence, Dale E. LaFleur, of Tucson, Ariz., and Andrea J. Luchini, of Sykesville, Md.; a brother, Eugene E. LaFleur, of Springfield; a sister, Donna A. Akers, of Florence; three grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A son, Peter L. Luchini; and a sister, Gloria J. Webster, died earlier.

The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from Ahearn Funeral Home in Northampton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Hatfield.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.

Calling hours are Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
