CREEDMOOR, N.C. _ Earl Richard Gett Jr., 62, of Creedmoor, formerly of Westhampton, died Feb. 17 at home.

Born March 24, 1937, in Northampton, he was the son of Earl R. Gett Sr. of Westhampton, and the late Helen Blakesley Gett.

He attended Westhampton schools, and graduated from Northampton High School. He received a nursing degree from Greenfield Community College.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam.

Mr. Gett had been employed by the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham, N.C., until his retirement several years ago. He had previously worked at The Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Leeds.

Besides his father, he leaves his wife, Nancy Moore Gett; two daughters, Tina Carpenter of Winterhaven, Fla., and Tracie Bowman of Creedmoor; a son, Shane Gett of Ash, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Debra Huff of Stem, N.C., and Karen Ford of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Margaret Hamelin of Easthampton; and a stepbrother, Albert LaFrance of Huntington.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday morning in Center Cemetery in Westhampton.

The Mitchell Funeral Home in Easthampton is handling arrangements.
