FLORENCE — James E. Frenier, 69, of 50 Ryan Road, died Saturday at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital. ---- He was born in Northampton, Aug. 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Obie P. and Mildred M. (Marra) Frenier. ---- He was educated in Northampton schools and was a 1954 graduate of Northampton High School. ---- He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. After high school he worked as an auto mechanic at area garages. Later, he became a firefighter for the city of Northampton for many years before retiring in 1997. ---- He loved go-cart, stock car and Daytona racing. ---- He is survived by his son, Jamie O. Frenier of Chesterfield, and his daughter, Michelle Superba of Holyoke. ---- The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Annunciation Church in Florence at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. ---- Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
