Episode 19, in Canada's other official language!

The French episode! L'episode en francais!

We decided to try an episode en francais. We talked mostly about the book 'Le Petit Prince" (The Little Prince) and a bit about how Isabelle basically taught Dave French by teaching him to say useful French words like "snot".

Shout outs to Noella, Saadane, that guy from Japan, Mark, Lilmoe (we will get to your email next!), Steph and Mike and Steph and Andrew.

Episode 18 hits the web, enjoy

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the Future and the monarchy.

OUr first topic was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which we recently saw. Dave liked that it was a good adaptation of the book which he read in high school. Isabelle thought it a bit much and said she felt like she had taken drugs with the two guys for a couple of hours. We both agreed the movie was well done, but made you feel sort of uncomfortable.

We then shifted gears and talked about the future. Will there be flying cars? Seriously, Isabelle had read an article in Time about the future so we thought it a good topic. We are not sure if the future will bring an end to nationalism and petty bickering or make it worse.

This, somehow, lead to a free form discussion on the monarchy. Why in the hell do we have a Queen?

Hope you like it, let us know!

Episode 17, now we both have mics...

Legalizing weed, a review of the film Sabah and Dave playing a dumb guy...

We received an email from Mark, an Australian listener, who wanted to know our take on legalizing marijuana. Well, we talked about that for a bit which was a pretty good discussion. (We are still blown away by the fact that Mark from Australia is a listener!) Hey other listeners, email us! brocasarea@gmail.com.

We then reviewed the film Sabah, which we saw last night. Not a bad little movie, though a bit uneven. Still we enjoyed it. Check it out if you get a chance: http://www.sabahthemovie.com/

Episode 16, video games, Halloween and food....

Topics by Dave including Chinese food, Canadian food and video games...

Usually Isabelle comes up with the topics for our 'cast, but this time Dave did. We talked about junk Chinese Food vs. Authentic Chinese food, Isabelle is opposed to the former but likes the latter, Dave just likes all of it. We then talked about Canadian food, is there such a thing?

We discussed video games and their impact on social behaviour, not sure if we came to a conclusion, but it was interesting.

Halloween is coming up and we talked about our favourite costumes and the upcoming Halloween pub night at the University

We were interrupted by Jon waking up, and had to end abruptly.

Shout outs to Mark, RB, Phere, Mel, Lilmoe, Lynne, Rob Rawn, Mark, the Germans, The Stephanies and to Maddie, oh and that guy in Japan.

Episode 15 - sitting by the fire, talking about Value Village, UNESCO, and the interweb

Value Village, UNESCO and the internet.

We talked about going to Value Village (a second hand store all over Canada) and buying stuff for Halloween, but also for other stuff.

Then we shifted gears and discussed the UNESCO decision on cultural products and how they will be exempt from trade rules, much to the chagrin of the USA. We were in agreement with the decision.

Finally we talked about internet security etc.

There were a couple of interruptions while Dave went to check on Jon.

Episode 14 - Lost in Lansing

Lost in Lansing....

In this installment we were in Lansing Michigan at the Quality Inn. We were there for the Futureplay conference, but, managed only to get lost (worry not dear listener, we made it the next day and got some great stuff for thunderbird six).

We talked about Lansing, the MSU campus, and how Dave says soooooooooo all the time.

Episode 13 - Restaurant reviews, anti Choice twits and the University Fair

There are not many international restaurants in Sault Ste. Marie but there is the Bali restaurant, on Queen street. Dave and I have been on a mission for the past year to try every restaurant in town. Listen to our reviews and give us your thoughts that. Dave was away to a university fair in Toronto with his buddy J of the business department at Algoma. It was fun. Then, we talk about last Sunday when people had a day of action against abortion. In our view, these people are nothing but bullies.

Shout outs to J, hope your knee is better. Phere, Dwayne, Eric, Jessica, Rob, all the students in history at Algoma, and in Psych. Leslie, Rick, Steph and Andrew. Lynn Honey. Terry Guertin, Debbie.
Shout outs to RB, Mom, Phere, Westwoo, Andrea, Duncan, Melanie, that guy that works with Dad whose name Dave forgot and the kids, because really, we do it for the kids.
shout outs to Phere, Lilmoe, Melanie, Saadane, RB and the Germans.

Episode 12 hits the 'net to the beat of some 80s dance music...

Episode 12, the special 80s edition.

We talked about Television, culture, music, and the rise of the personal computer in the decade that many misunderstood, and still misunderstand, the 1980s.

While there was much bad 1980s there was a lot of good too! There was U2, here was ST:TNG, there was Gorby and his crazy red spot on his head. Of course it really all culminated in Live Aid.

Though we don't want to sound like that Bowling for Soup song, we want to make clear that there was some really good stuff back then.

OTOH, there was the Cosby Show, there was Glam Metal, there were alligator shirts, there was Reagan and Thatcher and Mulroney. So, we do not look back with totally rose coloured glasses. Indeed, those people spent the money (even though they were supposedly conservative) and left us Ge Xers with the freaking bill...

Episode 11, already!

We have a special guest, Rob Rawn, student, friend and cousin of Canadian Idol finalist Suzi Rawn

Rob was over and we rambled on and on about stuff. This BTW, was version 2.0, as the first recording, some idiot (Dave) forgot to record....

10 episodes, are you kidding?

What do Samuel Beckett and Ella Fitzgerald have in common? Isabelle is a fan of both.

We also read our first real piece of listener mail, thanks Lynne!

Ella was amazing, and more information about her can be found at www.ellafitzgerald.com.

thunderbird six starts up this week (www.thunderbirdsix.org).

Shout outs to: Lynne, Eric, Phere, Westwoo, RB, Saadane, Craig, everyone at AUC and those still at SWGC....

There was beer involved...
