Friend's Hike the North Rim of the Grand Canyon We start at Sunset Crater, then on to the Wupatki National Monument, then the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and finally Zion National Park.

Sunset Crater (SF Peaks in the background). The painted desert near Wupatki. The real Wupatki ruins. Arrive at the North Rim. Nice view from the "common room". I quickly take a panorama shot. Watching the fires to the west. V, D and Me. Just before the Astronomy lesson. The hike into the canyon (North Kaibab Trail) begins with mules. Nice views early on. Supai Tunnel is 2 miles in. My goal is the Redwall Bridge (3 miles in). Darren keeps a lookout. NPS workers fixing the trail. Hard work but what a workplace! I made it. The Supai Tunnel looks different on the way up. He has two of Darren's almonds in his face. Later on day 2 we head along Roaring Springs. We pose for a shot on Bright Angel Point. Fires still burning for dinner on day 2. Day 3 I go to Cape Royal & along the way run into the remnants of the 200... Me on Cape Royal. Angel's Window. That's the Colorado River in it. More of the river from Cape Royal. Later on day 3 we take the Transept trail (3 miles). We pass the Grand Lodge. The signs of a major rock slide. Posers on the Transept trail. Last morning. Now that's a breakfast view! Zion National Park. 1st stop: Checkerboard Mesa. The Zion Mount Carmel Highway takes you through a 1 mile tunnel. With windows! The "Beehives". Looking west over Canyon Junction. The Virgin river caused the formation of the canyon.
