David Chatting

My interests are most broadly in interactive systems and particularly in the production and presentation of visual media. The communicational power of the human face is a recurring theme in my work. My passion is usability.

I have published papers and filed patents in the fields of HCI, psychology, tangible interfaces, computer vision and computer graphics. My portfolio has many examples of my projects. I have also written a regular blog for Business Weekly discussing a variety of new technologies and their implications.

I am currently studying Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art and developing software with ITO World. I have also facilitated with Tinker.it and worked with Aldeburgh Music. My independent open-source activity has recently developed the Arduino Eye Shield, allowing the popular Arduino microprocessor to interpret analogue video. New propositions should be addressed to:

I cofounded the Curiosity Collective and I am an organiser of dorkbot anglia.

Between September 2000 and July 2009 I was a researcher at BT’s Broadband Applications Research Centre (BARC), where I was responsible for creating intellectual property and communicating new concepts to the business. Specifically those to drive and maintain broadband adoption. To accomplish this I built and designed software and hardware prototypes, evaluated them by user-study and disseminated the results in business presentations and academic publications. Any significant intellectual property generated was protected by patent.
