Policy Speeches (Public Speaking Course, Denison U.)

This project is part of the Public Speaking course that I taught at Denison. I guided
students through the process of audience analysis and message design (using Social
Judgment Theory), and then coached them on style and delivery. I used weblogs,
Adobe Acrobat, and digital video to provide feedback to students as they learned to
write, edit, and deliver policy speeches. (In the example here, I show two performances
of a student speech, along with my notes before and after the first of those
performances.) I think this project shows how digital technology can be used to coach
speakers, whether in the classroom or in a business setting.
