Summary of Michael's Current Physical Condition (pics):
• 18 hours of TPN
per day (intravenous nutrition)
• Host of Medications given IV
(Reglan, Hydralazine, Solu-Medrol, Methadone, Vitamins, Insulin)

• Cannot Walk due to severe muscle weakness in legs and feet
• Severe loss of sensation (feeling) in his lower extremities and
hands.
• Has very limited use of his hands. He cannot use his fingers but is able
to at least click a mouse and use his iMac
• Cannot eat due to very poor stomach and gastrointestinal motility
• A neurogenic bladder (has an indwelling foley catheter)
• Has an NG
Tube for intermittent suction in the event of fluid build up
in his stomach
Michael's mental condition is fine, although he does worry very
much about where his condition will be taking him in the future.
He is very concerned about the time it is taking to get his bone
marrow (stem
cell) transplant scheduled and the issues relating to paying
for it due to the fact that our insurance company has thus far failed
to cover the procedure.

Michael worked for a couple of years at the General Cinema movie theater at the Mazza
Gallery in Washington DC, while in high school, and as a student
at the University of Maryland.
Hobbies:
• Ice Skating: Michael started ice skating when he was 4 years old.
He played ice hockey until he graduated high school and stopped
when he got sick. Michael played at a time when 5:30 AM ice times
were a fact of life.
• Ice Hockey: He loves to watch the NHL on TV
• Sports: Michael loved to play ice hockey, baseball and soccer
for Bethesda
Chevy Chase Baseball, the Montgomery
Ice Hockey Association and Stoddert
Soccer. Michael played right wing for both Montgomery Hockey
and his high school ice hockey team, "The Barons," at
B-CC High school. Michael played mostly second base for BCC
baseball , and was a forward on most of his soccer teams.
• Video Games: He was given a Nintendo
game console on his 5th birthday and never looked back. It was one
of his favorite pastimes. Michael can no longer play video games
which were such a big part of his life. This makes him extremely
unhappy and sad at the moment. He still holds out the hope that
one day, with a successful transplant, that he might still be able
to play all the games he has missed since he got sick. He continues
to visit IGN on
a daily basis to read about the latest in the gaming world.
