Old Races.

 Jay Richards had a good post about Quadna.  I have a pic on my wall of me racing there.  This is my 2nd race ever.  1995.

I think I was 4th in juniors this day?  Not sure.  I am pretty sure Doug was 2nd Overall and 1st Junior.   I think I was 5th overall or pretty close.  Beginner Category.  In 1996 it was the first Chi-Chi Series Ever.  Doug wanted the Jersey really bad, I remember the course being killer.  and a figure 8 design.  No cool fly-over, just a couple volunteers with flags.  I don't think there was an accidents.  I remember running into a tree at full speed on a decent and breaking my rock shox mag 21.  It got bent back about 2inchs. It would then hit my feet when ever I turned the handlebar.  It was really ticking me off, but I didn't know what the trouble was.  My problem was that I my bike was in such a state of bad maintenance that the middle ring had no teeth on it.  Seriously.  It would totally skip under any pressure at all.  I was trying to use only my small and big ring but got messed up a couple times.   Doug got the Jersey, but lost it a couple races later to #9...Joel Simonson.  By the end of the year, we both started racing Expert.  My first expert race was at welch village at the end of the year.  It was a shorter lap That we did 10 times.  Eppen and I battled it out.  I beat him at the end.  I think for like 10th.  Joe Parkin was there, and I beat him up the first hill.  I think he wondered what the hell I was doing, because I was sprinting as hard as I could, and pretty much bonked after that.  He broke his bike, but had his cross bike there because in the afternoon was a cross race.  He finished up a couple more laps on that.

The first time I saw the flyer I was afraid of the "drop" on it.  There was no drop in the race.  

It almost looks like Baileys Bailout from Vail.  I got to race down that one time when I went out there for the world cup in 1997.  There used to be cool sections with names.   Bahama Mama Falls, The Detangler,  What was that crazy hill at Mammoth called?
