Widgy 0.2 Widgy is a simple application (with a crap name!) that provides functionality to enable or disable Dashboard Widgets. It lists System and User level widgets. Selecting a Widget in the list will allow you to enable or disable it using the Tool bar buttons. Disabled Widgets are not visible in the Dashboard Widget bar. How it works It's a simple app, and is simply a front end for a Hack that has already been posted on the web. System level widgets are stored in /Library/Widgets and User level widgets are stored in ~/Library/Widgets. A widget is simply a bundle in OSX with the *.wdgt extension. When you disable a widget through Widgy, the bundle is renamed and a .old extension is added. Dashboard will nolonger recognise this widget. Enabling a widget simply removes the .old extension. Version History 0.1 Intial Release 0.2 Fix to handle Widgets without Icons Please note: This is a new piece of software with limited testing (as in, i've tried it, used it, and all seems well). Do not download if you do not want to use alpha software. I will not be held liable for issues arising from the use of this app. Also, just to be sure, backup your widgets first! :-) This will only run on Mac's running Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) and Java 1.42 Download Widgy.zip |
