2008 Dream Wall

26th Annual Conference

 

Attendees at the 26th Annual Cal-TASH conference were asked to share their dreams by writing them down on large posters called a Dream Wall.  Here is what the 2008 attendees shared about their dreams, large and small:

 

 

¥ People just appreciated and respect one anther as THE starting Place.

 

¥ Celebrating and Embracing different styles of each human being..

 

¥ It is my dream that we will learn that co-operation is better than competitions.

 

¥ Wheel-chair accessible restrooms that are actually wheel chair accessible and make sense.

 

¥ To learn more about how our brains/minds function and erase pre-existing taboos!

 

¥ Inclusive world.

 

¥ A where we arenÕt judged by what we canÕt do, but are encouraged to do what we CAN!

 

¥ No Labels.

 

¥ A world where disabilities arenÕt noticed.

¥ No WARS!

 

¥ More $$$ to schools! Better training provided & teachers.

 

¥ More singing and more dancing! Lots and lots of dancing J

¥ As a Inclusion Teacher my dream is to be respected as a teacher and viewed by my colleagues as a valued member of the school community.

¥ Paraeducators will be valued, trained, and compensated for the great work they do & are expected to do!

 

¥ Equal opportunities for all persons.

 

¥ I hope all people can be productive in what they want to do!

 

¥ Health care that meets everyoneÕsÕ needs w/o draining personal accounts.

 

¥ To hug a chimpanzee and he has to mean it.

 

¥ To transform Special Day Classes into Full Inclusion Programs.

 

¥ I dream of the day when all peoples of every culture, ethnicity, race, disabled or not may be looked upon and treated as equals in all spheres of society – where peoples with disabilities can be whatever they want to be- without prejudice.

 

¥ I dream of a day that you donÕt need to make a   ÒPLANÓ to include kids in school.

 

¥ I dream of a time when people of different religious and cultural beliefs can be not just tolerated, but accepted and received as equals, and teachers as well. J

 

¥ I dream of a day when there is freedom and certainty joy.

 

¥ For all individuals to get needs met in inclusive settings!

 

¥ My Dream is that the job of inclusion teachers be respected and valued by all.

 

¥ That all understand children/adults with disabilities.

 

¥ I Dream To: Erase-Racism In this Life Time! ÒEracismÓ

 

¥ Starting my own business as an educational consultant to help include all children empower all parents and help schools be more effective.

 

¥ To recognize that all of life is a manifestation of ONE thing

 

¥ To make ALL schools in San Francisco Full Inclusion Schools.

 

¥ World Peace.

 

¥ That the N.Y. Giants win the super bowl!

 

¥  More horses!

 

¥ That Everyone has HOME they want!

 

¥ I hope Barack wins the election!

 

¥ Health and happiness for all!

 

¥ Services without funding restraints.
