cover     The Cave

Beautiful collage-drawing probably inspired by a visit to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky (see Introduction for details). In this particular cave, a surly nobleman sits on a rock under a ceiling of stalactites. Also on the cover (cited as PAGE 0 on the Contents page) is the MR Thru Black Holes masthead.

page 00     Contents page and indicia

With drawings by TERRY JEEVES and E. H. DORN. Note: The pagination for this and pages 000 and 0000 are taken from the Contents page. There really is no limit to the MICHAEL RODEN imagination.

page 1     Introduction

Interesting discussion of a trip to Mammoth Cave (“a journey through black holes of a different kind”) and the nature of reality. Includes an ingenious proposal for an experiment to test the theory. Text pieces such as this offer some very fascinating insights into the amazing world of MICHAEL RODEN.

page 2     Exo-biology: A Question

Text piece by E. H. DORN with a drawing by TERRY JEEVES.

pages 3-8     In the Beginning … Metamorphosis

Interesting strip-story addition to the ongoing saga of Prof. I. Moot. “Moot summoned a Holocaust of Souls and they whisked him off beyond space & time.” Also issued as a very rare separate 6-page publication.

pages 9-11     Albrecht Durer / 14th-15th Century

Nonfiction by MICHAELENE LLEWELLYN illustrated with a full-page reproduction of The Sea Monster & the Beast with the lamb’s horns by ALBRECHT DURER (page 10).

pages 12-13     From the Dream Diary, of Old Prof. I. Moot, 4th Entry …

Fiction by MICHAELENE LLEWELLYN chronicling the further adventures of the mysterious Prof. I. Moot through various and sundry astral realms. Quite fascinating and most imaginative. On page 14 is a wonderful full-page E. H. DORN drawing of Mi-Kell in Uffern.

pages 15-18     Strands of the Future

Another ELECTRONIC MUSICIANS REVIEW section wherein MR explores the history of space-musicians COSMIC COURIERS (page 17) and reviews Blake’s New Jerusalem by TIM BLAKE and X by KLAUS SCHULTZ (page 18).

page 18     Ambassador Lentek by: Frodo & Mike

Mini-story with a space-music theme by FRODO and MICHAEL RODEN. Illustrated with a small drawing by FRODO.

page 19     Cygnus X-1 Black Hole in Space

Nonfiction by MICHAEL KRAMER.

pages 19-20     Letters

A long letter by ROGER WADDINGTON illustrated with a small drawing (page 19) by TERRY JEEVES.

pages 21-24     Babylon Hole

Fiction by RON NANCE.

page 000     In the Future

A sneak preview of the next issue of THRU BLACK HOLES. Includes two drawings by TERRY JEEVES.

back cover     untitled drawing by TERRY JEEVES

“A T. Jeeves full page picture, especially drawn for Thru Black Holes” is how this drawing is described on the Contents page. Also note that this page (the back cover) is listed as “PAGE 0000” on the Contents page.
