The legendary HALLOWEEN series continues and just keeps getting better and better. This issue features a stunning wrap-around cover, two amazing feature-length stories and, well, let’s just look at the contents, shall we?
cover MICHAEL RODEN The Witch’s Yard
This wonderful Halloween scene started out as a watercolor painting that was altered for publication as the covers of this comix. Note the wonderful wood-grain effects in the haunted house and (on the back cover) the eerie red streak in the predawn sky.
Here is the wrap around cover for HALLOWEEN 7. It's part of an 11 X 14 watercolor painting that I did in 2004. I think it has the childlike innocence that I'm looking for in Halloween 7. ... What isn't shown on the cover is a big jack-o-lantern patch that's growing there. The bats are added to the back cover area. MR: email to DLC dated Jun 7, 2006
page 2 TOM BRINKMANN Fungi Resurrection on All Hallows Eve
This is an amazing horror scene done in a dark angular style. Very cool.
pages 3-12 Door-Eye in Halloween Land
This multi-artist story features the recent MR fantasy character Door-Eye in another wild and visually amazing adventure. In addition to some nicely effective MR backgrounds, we find old engravings collaged in, buildings by ANDY NUKES, and the incredible Skull House by TOM BRINKMANN. In addition, Door-Eye encounters a cast of characters drawn by JIM THOMPSON, BOB X, and MIKE MITCHELL (plus another Alien-like monster pulled from an old engraving!). The final splash page has the look and feel of an old horror movie poster, with a freaked-out Door-Eye standing over the city as lightening bolts flash in the night sky. This is an amazing and wonderful story!
page 13 TOM BRINKMANN Jack-o-Lantern Bogeyman Trick or Treating
This cool horror drawing features a rather scary jack-o-lantern-headed bogeyman with a grisly bag of treats. Yikes.
pages 14-21 Trick or Treat in Spooky Town
This multi-artist extravaganza features a new character (Little Jimmy) and his freak Crazy Man parents (or is Little Jimmy the freak?). The opening splash page is a wonderful drawing that was penciled by MR and inked by zine legend AL GRENNIER. After sneaking out on Trick or Treat night, Little Jimmy encounters some fun BRAD FOSTER trick-or-treaters (with a fabulous MR monster behind them!), an ANDY NUKES Frankenstein monster, skeletons (from an old engraving), another Frankenstein (which MR beautifully and effectively pieced together by combining a photograph of a model with a freaky TOM BRINKMANN head!), a wonderful BOB X guy with a mask, and, but, no, I’m not gonna spoil the surprise ending. But, trust me, the ending is fabulous and definitely worthy of the old EC Comics of the 1950s. This is a wonderful and fun story!

page 23 JEFF GAITHER & MIKE RODEN Monster at the Enchanted Aquaduct
This scary drawing features a JG insect-monster with the Enchanted Aquaduct in the background. Cool HPL-inspired page.
OK, there you have it. Basically, the deal is this – HALLOWEEN 7 is an amazing comix and is a must-have item for, well, everybody.
