Twenty-two years between the fifth and sixth issues and well worth the wait! That’s right, CRAZY MEN 5 was published in 1984; after twenty-two years of festering in some dark dungeon in the hinterlands of Southern Ohio, CRAZY MEN 6 finally sees the light of day. What is remarkable about this cool mini-comix is the fact that it combines left-over material from the mid-1980s with brand-new material drawn especially for this comix and it all fits together perfectly. Let’s look at the contents:

cover   ED H. DORN and MICHAEL RODEN (untitled drawing)
This is the original cover drawing from the mid-1980s. Check it out - there are weird creatures, a giant cosmic eyeball, and an intricately detailed background that must have taken years to draw!

page 2   BOB X and MICHAEL RODEN (Karate Joe)
This cool illustration was created recently just for this comix. It shows the BOB X character Karate Joe strolling through a MICHAEL RODEN collage background depicting “the outskirts of a city at night.” (MR: eBay item description)

page 3   JIM THOMPSON and MICHAEL RODEN (Big Jam Session)
This page was also newly created for this comix and shows “a wacked out Crazy Man Marine playing an electric guitar with a band made up of a weird Violin player and a kooky Bass Fiddle player.” (MR: eBay item description)

pp 4-5   MICHAEL RODEN (untitled trip art drawing)
This wonderful drawing (from the late 1980s) depicts in intricate detail “a trippy Crazy Man scene in a room full of strange flying things.” (MR: eBay item description) This wonderful drawing would make a terrific poster. Note that a detail of this page was previously published as a spot illustration in SOUND CHOICE No. 16.

page 6   ANDY NUKES and MICHAEL RODEN (untitled illustration)
This scary page shows us a freaked-out Crazy Man wandering around in a landscape littered with skulls.

page 7   Info Page

bc   MICHAEL RODEN (untitled collage-drawing)
Cool illustration of a Crazy Man “drinking a poison cocktail (or is he offering it to you?!)” (MR: eBay item description)

There are (if my calculations are correct) twenty different color variants of this comix so if you’re an obsessive-compulsive collector you have your work cut out for you. Seriously, though, this is a wonderful mini-comix and is highly recommended.
