Thursday Night Train Group Progress

My friends in my Thursday Night Train Group came over and helped with construction

My friends from the BRVRR Thursday Night Train group came over last night to help with the construction of my railroad. Things went well and I was pleased with the progress. While we didn't accomplish everything I listed in the prep for Thursday night, you always want to schedule more work than can be done in a night, hoping that you can keep everyone busy and involved.

We installed about 15 feet of homasote in Lindenwood Yard tonight. In the picture below you can see it's about 1/2" thick sitting on the plywood. We then used a bunch of scrap lumber to clamp it down using drywall screws while the wood glue that was applied to the plywood has time to setup and cure. The problem ended up, the guys used up all my 1x3s in the process and anything else they could scrounge up. They had to stop laying homasote because they ran out.

We also installed the open grid framework for the power plant side. As it turns out, I managed to install 2x2 reinforcing blocks in the framework which ended up right where the studs in the wall were, we did get screws drilled in at a slight angle to anchor the whole assembly. We also installed a small rectangular section of framework that will become part of the start of the penisula later. The object is to temporarily bridge this section to make sure the trackwork in the power plant section works well.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'll finish up the framework on this side and begin installing subroadbed. I am hoping in the next 1 to 2 months I can finally start laying some actual track!!
