Prep for Thursday Night

I've prepared the room for my Thursday Night train group.

I've cleaned up the layout room in preparation for my Thursday Night train group, otherwise known as Big River Valley Railroaders. I like to get things cleaned up, organized, and ready for the group when they arrive. I figure having some semblance of cleanliness also helps with safety. I do have two small children who like to help Daddy out in the train room, so I tend to keep things picked up in there. I also picked up some Homasote at a local concrete supply contractor in 4' x 5' sheets. I need to stop by Home Depot and get one of those large jugs of Wood glue to glue the homasote down and a knife blade for my jig saw for cutting the stuff.

So here's the work tasks for Thursday:

1) Install homasote in Lindenwood Yard.
2) Install open grid framework that will support Rush Island Power Plant.
3) Install section of framework that will be the beginning of the penisula.
4) Fabricate and install framework that will support the upper level hidden staging yard.
5) Tie framework from power plant and along back wall to short penisula section.
6) Start cutting out subroadbed for section between Lindenwood Yard and Byers
7) Start cutting out subroadbed for upper level hidden return loop and staging yard.

That should keep them busy. Yet another interesting aspect of building a layout is that I get to play supervisor for the work crews. Which means getting all the supplies together, getting the cookies baked, the soda out, and the ice cold. When they arrive, I get to make the assignments and hopefully keep everyone happily employed

Here's a look at the room and the section that should be completed Thursday night. I'll post the results of our work session later this week.
