Ceiling Work

I have started working on replacing the drop ceiling over the layout.

I had a personal worksession tonight, which means I was working by myself. I started re-installing the drop ceiling over the layout. I had a small section over the Rush Island power plant that I managed to get the channel mounted and re-used ceiling tiles put in place. The hard part will come when I try to reinstall the tiles over the main heating duct that runs the length of the house. Before I tore it down, it originally had a 2x4 stud framework on both sides of the duct, and the ceiling tiles were stapled to the studs. I had to remove most of the length of that framework that was away from the wall to make room for the new valance and light fixtures. Now I have nothing to attach ceiling tiles to on that side. So I am thinking about using a 1x2 furring strip and gluing it to the duct so that I have something to staple into.
I also started on installing the drop ceiling channel over Lindenwood yard. I used a laser level to mark the plane that the channels will be mounted to. I'll post some pictures of that work when I get a little further along. The goal is to have all this ceiling work finished by Feb 10th, which is when my Thursday night train group (Big River Valley Railroaders) is scheduled to come to my house.
