A lonely zebra headed for the lake.
A buffalo and his friend "bird"
An ex-buffalo in repose

Mushaka told us the buffalo are incredibly tough, that it takes 3-4 lions to down one. The number-of-lions-it-takes-to-be-"downed" seemed to be a pretty common benchmark of toughness.

Brenda poses in front of the tree by the hippos & crocodiles. Those buffalo skulls are from croc kills.
Buffalo takes "bird" for a walk

My dad had told us about a huge, aged bull elephant with enormous tusks in the crater and he turned out to be both the only elephant we saw that day and the last animal we saw in the crater since we were racing back out before they "closed the gates." We still wonder what would have happened if we hadn't made it in time.

Check out his tusks!
He was all alone & just walked right up to us. I had to switch to a shorter lens.
Brenda discovers Stoney Tangawizi! We have to find a way to import this stuff.
