Hydra Town
Four days on the Island of Hydra followed our time in Mykonos. The pace of life was totally different. Slow, relaxed, relaxing.

Waiting for the ferry in Mykonos New Port
High Speed 4 took us in style back to Piraeus
Flying Cat 1 took us onward to Hydra
We rented a villa in Hydra. That's it with the red outline
A steep flight of steps brought us to our door
Looking toward the kitchen from the bedroom
Looking toward our bedroom balcony
This crazy bath took our fancy
The view from our balcony
Balcony view no. 2
Balcony view no. 3
No motorised transport on Hydra. Mules act as transport instead.
Patient 4-legged transport
The same pair again
Taking home the evening provisions
The busy harbour in Hydra town
I took a notion and climbed to the top of that hill behind our villa
Increasingly impressive views as I climbed up
Another high view
Higher still
This windmill is available to rent. Magnificent view of the Pelopennesian coast.
Almost there ...
Hydra town spread out beneath me
A quiet Hydraian corner
Boats at rest
Another harbour scene
The tower of Hydra cathedral was a convenient landmark
Hydra has a long history of naval prominence
Entering the Cathedral courtyard
One of many memorials in the courtyard
Lazaros Kountouriotis, Greek patriot
A colourful religious mosaic
Somebody significant, presumably
Antonios Oikonomou, 1821 revolutionary
The sculptor might have made him look a bit less gruesome!
A strange stance!
Andreas Miaoulis, Hydraiot admiral
A typical sidestreet
View across the rooftops
A typical piece of architectural detail
Looking down one of the many flights of steps in the town
The harbour seen from a narrow alleyway
Enjoying a late-evening drink at the waterfront
Our last sunset in Hydra
Perfect weather on our last morning
Some of the many yachts which came and went
The dreaded luggage moment, ready for the return to Athens
