Change of support

Readers:

Apple has discontinued support of .Mac as it fully transitions to Me.com.

That being said, I will stop updating this blog. Once I get set up on another blog, I will inform all you.

Best,
Albert

Stupid has her day.

Imagine a world where digital tape has a time/date stamp. And you could actually tell when someone said something.

That would certainly come in handy for those on Fox News.

I think Ms. MacCallum is just stupid, plain and simple.

That comment is valid in the past, present, AND future.

Always the best.

Another "huzzah!"

for traditional marriage.

The party of the grand and old have made one helluva statement.

A must click!

PS: It really is all about Levi

The neighborhood.

Southeast Seminole Heights.

This article highlights some of the gentrification--eatery-specific--happening in our soon-to-be neighborhood.

Plus, nothing says trendy like a neighborhood tapas bar. LOL.

Even in these difficult economic times, growth happens, slowly but surely. Not that we need an overly upscale neighborhood, but a walkable, destination neighborhood does make for a better, cooler place to live.

Life in the city by the bay...

...no not that city. Tampa, FL.

...the day-to-day living starts here in Tampa.

I've been in the city for a week, I've been at work for a week, I've experienced the humidity, you guessed it, for a week. Life is underway here in the bay area. I've sample some pretty mediocre seafood (a chain recco'd by a friend), hit a few Starbucks, and ordered a washer & dryer for the new house. I've driven by the McBerry house, and the roof is complete. The rehab'd 1926 bungalow sparkles and readies itself for closing on 23 Feb. I can't wait.

This holiday weekend has been the perfect opportunity to explore the area. I've managed to get around as well. Oscar, my ever-stalwart Mini Clubman S, zips through the streets with ease. One maddenning aspect of Tampa roads is the city puts the traffic lights in the middile of the intersection. They create an "X" from the corners and hang the lights close to the stop line. The Clubby is squat with a race car-like windshield. I'm so low to the ground that at the stop line, I have to lean over to see the light. This is annoying esp. when I have pole position at the light. I don't understand this choice by the city. Perhaps all the SUVs and large autos don't have the problems. But really, shouldn't the city be catering to those of us who drive vehicles that have a little more caché than, say, what others drive? : ) Apparently not.

Work, so far has been boring and full of inprocessing. I must say, CENTCOM does not make a good inpression with inprocessing. They have a single inprocessing center where they tout their weekly mass inprocessing as a standard for all other commands. Well, it must've been all new people on Friday, since no one had a clue where any of us should go. I kept handing my folder (full of boxes to be checked off by each station indicating you were done with them) to different staff, and no one seemed to know where to send me next. I'd see a box check and then asked "where is Station #4?" I'd get a "I don't know. Let me ask someone." Happened about 5 times to me and all the other newbies. Yes, it was busy, but this was their process not mine. Frankly, I was quite underwhelmed by the organization of the inprocessing center. But at least everyone was relatively respectful and nice. Typical service center: nice by completely incompetent.

As for my office, it's a standard office. People notice a "new guy," offer brief hellos, and then go on their way. Perhaps I have a "final assignment, retirement light ON" glow about me. Shine on!

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying a good holiday weekend.

Joey and the pups are doing well back is slightly snowy Colorado Springs. They hope to join me soon.

70F and mild here in Tampa...and a bit humid.

best regards to all,

Albert

You wear it well.

From The New York Times.

Casual, yes. Unprofessional, no. The tone of this NYT's article seems to hint at a lack of professionalism in President Obama's casual dress and manner in the White House. The POTUS can wear his dive suit and tank, for all I care, as long as he's working hard for the American people. Besides, the myth of the "always coat and tie" in the Bush Oval Office has been disproven...with photos. Not to mention the punctuality myth as well. Actions, not silly dress code myths and memes, make for a great president. Loosen up, NYT. Informal doesn't equate to unprofessionalism. The Gray Lady should step down from her Manolos and head to J Crew for some practical wears.

You are SO brave...

Courage thy name is Rep. Gingrey.

I will say it...proudly!

After a very long time, I am finally proud of our President.

You go, Girl!

Yes, honey, it is difficult out there.
