chicago (il). After his father's death in 1914, Finney's mother moved them to live with her parents in Forest Park, IL, less than ten miles west of Chicago. He lived there until moving to Galesburg, IL to attend Knox College in 1930.

oak park (il). Oak Park is less that a mile northeast of Forest Park where Jack Finney was raised from about 1914 until moving to Galesburg, IL to attend Knox College in 1930.

new york (ny). Jack Finney lived in New York for almost fifteen years, from shortly after graduating from Knox College in 1934, until he moved to Mill Valley, CA in 1949. Therefore, many of his stories mention, or take place in New York.
