teaser: The story of a summer evening — touched with magic
summary: Bored with nothing to read on a late-summer evening, Timberlake Ryan hustles his wife Eve out their apartment, into a cab, and to the Ambassador Hotel for dancing. They reminisce listening to the band, and dance to Remember the Dream, and Summertime.
The couple takes a trolley ride down Third Avenue, where Tim points out his favorite places, and fills Eve in on Hoot Gibson's exploits in episode fifteen of The Flame Riders. As they notice a fellow passenger listening to their conversation, Tim pretends to be a tourist, reading from a guide book.
At the end of the line , they walk toward to the
East River, above the Williamsburg Bridge. Alone, Tim imagines he and Eve
are the last people on earth, standing there to say goodbye for the human
race. They sit near the water, smoking cigarettes, watching the boats, listening
to the sounds. Eve thinks, I'm happy, … I'm married
to my husband; I'm in love with him, and I'm happy.
They take a taxi home, remembering this unplanned evening as one of the best of their lives.
