Born in 1512 in Lisbon.
Father: King Emmanuel I of Portugal. Mother: Queen Maria of Castile.
Unmarried.
He was crowned in 1579 at Lisbon Cathedral.
Died in 1580 in Almeirim.
Buried firstly in the palace church in Almeirim.
In 1582 his remains were translated to Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon-Belém.

1580: ANTHONY (D. António; reigned 1580-83 in the Azores)

Until 1912 Queen Mary Frances was buried in the Church of the Franciscan Nuns at Lisbon.

Married firstly in 1817 in Rio de Janeiro Archduchess Maria Leopoldina of Austria (*1797 Vienna,+1826 Rio de Janeiro).
Married secondly in 1829 in Rio de Janeiro Amelia de Beauharnais (*1812 Milan,+1873 Lisbon).
He was never crowned.
His issue who reigned:
-MARY II (*1819,+1853; daughter of Maria Leopoldina),
-Peter II (*1825,+1891; Emperor of Brazil).
Abdicated in 1826 in favour of his daughter Maria (Mary II) and left for Brazil where he became Emperor Peter I.
Died in 1834 in Queluz near Lisbon.
Buried firstly in the Church of Sao Vicente in Lisbon.
In 1972 his remains were translated to the Imperial Chapel in Sao Paulo-Ipiranga, Brazil where he was buried together with his first consort Queen Maria Leopoldina.
His heart was buried in the Church of Lapa in Porto.


Queen Mary II

1826-1828: MARY II THE EDUCATOR (D. Maria II o Educatora; 1st time)
Born in 1819 in Rio de Janeiro.
Father: King Peter IV of Portugal. Mother: Queen Maria Leopoldina of Austria.
Married firstly in 1835 in Lisbon Duke Augustus of Leuchtenberg (*1810 Milan,+1835 Lisbon).
Married secondly in 1836 in Lisbon Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (*1816 Coburg, +1885 Lisbon;
