Buried firstly in Compiègne. In 1610 his remains were translated to the Basilica of Saint-Denis near Paris. His heart was firstly buried in the Collegiate Church at Saint-Cloud. Buried firstly in St Mary's Church at Chislehurst. In 1888 reburied in the Abbey Church of St Michael at Farnborough, England, where his consort Empress Eugenia was later buried as well.
