Cell phones and polls

The polls -- they're driving me nuts. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio change daily. Hawaii is back in play, so is New Mexico. And Florida -- don't even talk to me about Florida!

This time in 2000 Bush was further ahead of Gore than he is this time against Kerry.

And to make things even more interesting this time -- huge numbers of new voter registrations. Which way will they vote? Who knows!

But consider this -- most of my students don't have home telephones. They rely instead on cell phones. If this is the case across the country, many young voters are off the pollsters' radar screen.

It's gonna be a long election night!
