Controversial filmmaker Michael Moore did it: made it out of Utah alive. There was no lynching when he addressed students on the campus of Utah Valley State College. There was a "thunderous standing ovation" and a smattering of "boos," according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Moore thanked student-body officers for having the courage to invite him to campus and withstand the resulting controversy. Said Moore: "They have this radical belief that Utah is still in the United States of America."
