The mess in Iraq
Date Created:04/06/04 09:15 AM

It's beginning to look a lot like Vietnam.

President Bush said yesterday that he is still determined to turn over control of Iraq to Iraqis on June 30. Yet, the country looks nowhere close to being secure. Seven more American soldiers were killed yesterday and now the military is looking at contingency plans to send more troops. One has to wonder whether the government will be worried about American credibility if it pulls out of the country before securing it.

Meanwhile, Bush's poll numbers are dropping, as more Americans loose confidence in his handling of the situation. (Never mind the fact that most people have been fooled by the administration's claim that invading Iraq was part of the war on terrorism.)

Speaking of terrorism, the 9-11 commission will finally get to question Condi Rice on Thursday and next will it will put the FBI and CIA under the microscope. The questioning is expected to be tough, as the commission is now leaning toward finding that the terrorist attacks may have been unavoidable in the first place.
