The weekend in politics
Date Created:03/21/04 10:23 PM

A former aide in the Bush administration charges that the White House didn't care much about fighting terrorism before 9/11 and was interested in attacking Iraq from the moment it took office. Richard Clark charges that defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld favored attacking Iraq after the attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center because it had better bombing targets. Clark appeared tonight on CBS's "60 Minutes."

Al Franken is getting lots of attention these days. Earlier it was announced that he would take part in a planned radio network for liberals. Today's New York Times ran a lengthy profile in its magazine of this funny, angry, unabashedly liberal guy.

Pres. Bush, meanwhile, is working Florida's I-4 corridor, looking for swing voters.

And the New York Times examines White House exaggerations and numbers fudging that has produced what some people say is a credibility gap for this president.
