| Stewart & Crossfire: It ain't over | | Date Created: Oct 20, 2004, 08:36 AM |
The Daily Show is back on the air after a week away. Anchor Jon Stewart opened with a recap of his visit to CNN's Crossfire last Friday. Stewart noted that Crossfire hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala didn't think he was funny. Said Stewart: "Tomorrow I'll go back to being funny and your show will still blow."
According to the New York Times, "Mr. Stewart's frankness was a cool, startling, rational version of Senator Zell Miller's loony excoriation to Chris Matthews of MSNBC during the Republican Convention."
Meanwhile, Friday's exchange was still a topic on Monday's Crossfire. Robert Novak and James Carville expressed their dislike for Stewart. Novak said on Crossfire that he doesn't think Stewart is funny and "I know he's uninformed." Carville said he thinks the Daily Show anchor is funny, but "a pompous ass."
At least Stewart gave them something to agree on.
