Bliss Award to Tom Griffiths of BYU

The highlight of the AEJMC conference this week was the awarding of the Edward Bliss Award for Distinguished Broadcast Journalism.... which was given this year to my mentor, Dr. Tom Griffiths. The award ceremony was held at the Arts and Letters Club, an old haunt of the famous Canadian "Group of Seven" artists and such literary luminaries as Ernest Hemingway. Jim Upshaw of the University of Oregon presented the award. Talks were given by Dr. Ed Adams, chair of the BYU Department of Communications, Dr. Bill Silcock of the Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State, and Professor Ken Fischer of Southern Illinois University. Mark Phillips of BYU Broadcasting prepared a video about Tom. It was a real special moment for Tom and those of us who have benefitted from his mentoring. Thanks to all those who wrote letters in support of Tom!
